Hi, I'm Jordan Dalton, the founder of Larastream. We've been live for just 171 days and have 977 members. I'm blown away by the support and all the kind words that have been sent my way. With that said I wanted to take a moment to tell you a little more about Larastream.

What is Larastream?

We're a live streaming service for all things pertaining to Laravel.

Why was it built?

I LOVE Laravel! I’ve used it daily for 6 years and have seen it go from version 3 to 5.6. Over the years the Laravel community has continuously blown me away, from their willingness to push the framework to the max, going to #2 on Github, while giving the rest of us some amazing packages to integrate into our own projects. I still felt something was missing—another layer of social behavior that can add even more value to an already amazing community—live interaction.

What should I stream?

Here are some ideas:

  • Live Coding (example: while you work or learn to use Laravel)
  • Side Projects
  • Packages you've developed
  • Events: Laravel Meetups, Conferences, Hackathons
  • Podcasts
  • Yourself (Use Larastream as your video cover letter when applying for jobs)

What are the future plans?

I have several things I will be baking into the platform over the next months.

  1. Channel Monetization
    • Get paid to stream
    • Playlist (think Udemy)
    • Channel Subscribers
    • Mentor Sessions
    • Code Reviews
  2. Team Channel/Collaboration

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. Don't hesitate to send me questions or feedback (feel free to be as brutally honest as possible).

Sincerely,
Jordan Dalton
